Question: Tell us what’s the latest with Yes to Carrots?
IL: Wow, Yes To! has had a lot of new this year! We just moved into our new headquarters in San Francisco, doubling our space in order to make room for all of our new family members. Secondly, we have recently had a very successful launch of Yes To Blueberries — our “Age Refresh” line in the USA (with global launches coming throughout 2011). Lastly our distribution continues to expand and we have closed on 28,000 stores (in the last 4 years)!
Q&A with Liliana S. George, Ph.D.
Executive Director, Corporate R&D
The Estée Lauder Companies, Inc.
1. As the Executive Director of Strategic Developments of Corporate R&D at The Estée Lauder Companies, Inc., can you tell us, what are some of the Green Initiatives that ELC has taken?
The Estée Lauder Companies began formally managing environment issues in 1991, but the passion and commitment has really been part of our Company since its inception in 1946. Some of our environmental successes include purchasing green electricity and beginning to embed the principles of green chemistry in our global manufacturing and product innovation. We’ve taken steps to recycle and reuse as many resources as possible and our brands contribute significantly to these successes. One of the ways we have made great strides is through the sustainable packaging innovations across all brands, including increasing the recycled content of our packaging and being one of the first in our industry to do so.
Ella Stimpson is not your average Spa Director. Not only is she a member of the ISPA (International Spa Association) Board of Directors, but she has an interesting and unconventional background that has helped to prepare her for a successful career in the spa industry. From her beginnings as a front-line fitness instructor and personal trainer to becoming the Spa Director at the famous Broadmoor Hotel in Colorado, she has traveled the world helping others. Her passion and drive push her to continue to study and broaden her horizons, and it is with that goal in mind that she takes up her role as the director of Las Vegas’ most prestigious spa – the Spa at Wynn and Encore Las Vegas.
We asked Ella what she sees as the next trend in the spa industry and what inspires her.
